Lance & Meredith
"He's a good friend to have."
It's not everyday that your childhood friend becomes a star. But that's what happened to country singer Meredith Edwards. And when her pal, Lance Bass, got famous, he wanted her to join him. She was the first artist signed to Lance's Freelance Entertainment. Now Meredith is a budding starlet and has even toured with 'N Sync a few times. "Lance is a really good friend, both professionally and personally," Meredith says. She also sings "Ready to Fall" on the On The Line soundtrack.

Lance & Joey's Movie Magic
At 5 a.m. everyday for a month and a half, Lance woke up in chilly Toronto, Canada while filming On The Line. After all, he was the star. His co-star and pal Joey would fly up regularly to film his parts of the movie, but most of the time it was just Lance. But don't worry, he wasn't lonely. "Toronto is such a great city," he says. "It has the best nightlife! I was finding different places every night. I was like, 'Wow, this is cool!'" But Lance missed 'N Sync. He was always psyched when Joey flew back to do his parts. The old pals hung out in their trailers or hopped into town for a bite to eat. Even though Chris, J.C. and Justin weren't in the film, they were just as excited to be at the premiere supporting their new movie-star pals!

Mulling Over Mullets
Part of what makes Lance so adorable is his lovely blonde mane. However, even the 'N Sync heartthrob has some questionable tastes in hairstyles. "It's all about mullets," he admits to J-14, unwisely. "I have this fascination with mullets. You can go to either mulletsgalore.com or mullets.com to check them out. They're great." We love this guy, but there's a reason why celebs have stylists. Short on top + long in back = big time mistake. You do the math.

What I Was Like In High School
High school was social for me. I didn't belong to a clique, but if you had to classify me -- and I hate to say it -- I was popular. I just loved having friends. I could go out with this one group one weekend and other people the next. There were 300 or 400 people in my class at Clinton High School and everyone was friends.
I did fairly well in school, but I just didn't care enough about it. I loved math and science classes. I even wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger. But English and history could kiss my butt.
In high school, I sang and danced in Attaché, a competitive show choir. During my junior year I was vice president of my class. I went to the prom with a good friend my sophomore year because I was on the student council, but I never went to my junior or senior prom because I left during my junior year to join 'NSYNC. My mom asked that arrangement be made so I could continue classes at Clinton, but it's against school board policy and they wouldn't bend the rules. My tutors in Orlando were from the Universiry of Nebraska and recommended that school's program to me. I finished high school that way, six months after I became part of the group. I wish I could have graduated with my class, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Stars had respect for Elvis' talents
Clinton native Lance Bass, a member of the pop group 'N Sync, may be the most sought-after 23-year-old singer from Mississippi since Elvis.
"I have had many musical influences in my life and Elvis was one of them," Bass said in an e-mail from Russia where he is training for a flight into outer space later this year.
"Although I was not even born until two years after his death, Elvis' music and movies were a part of my childhood. My family and I enjoyed all of his work they and still do today."
